The advantages of staying in Trastevere at Amalia's home and using her skills are more than economic; it's like having a personal representative on hand, and for Americans in Rome for the first time that can spell the difference between comfort and discomfort. Amalia is knowledgeable about modern-day and ancient Rome, is eager to make sure her guests wishes are satisfied, and is energetic in seeing that this happens. I intend to return to Amalia's residence the next time I return to Rome, and I will return. David M. Delo, participant to Mark Silvers’ Plein Painting Workshop October 2007 I enjoyed my stay at the 'Il villino': and having an’Italian background, I am able to understand what is available and at what cost. It is a rather large and comfortable house, located close to major transportation with good inexpensive restaurants close by. For European housing the rooms were good sized with more than adequate toilet facilities, I think along with Amalia, her sister and the precious smiley mother, Maria, you will have the support needed to get around Roma and enjoy some very tasty Italian meals. You took such good care of us: from meeting our plane at the airport to making sure we got back on the correct train for our return trip, from buying all the correct tickets for us and showing us how to use them and how to use the busses and trolleys. When we registered late for the class, you found us a hotel close by and, using your Italian, made our arrangements and then upon arrival checked us in when no one at the front desk spoke English. The restaurant recommendations were also, much appreciated. We did not ever have a disappointing meal. Everywhere we went the food was eccellente! We feel that we owe you a great big thank you for taking such good care of us. You were "like a mother hen with her wandering chicks running every which way" as you tried to keep us all together and moving toward an end goal each day. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
